Audit of SUBLIME Energie

News

Our social and environmental commitments were approved!

SUBLIME Energie, the first biogas company to obtain mission-driven company status (société à mission), underwent its first audit in April 2022.

The Endrix firm (Alexandra Schenowitz, Caroline Bailly, Herve Gbego) confirmed the sincerity of our actions to help limit the effects of climate change by accelerating the energy transition to low-carbon energies.

But we don’t intend to stop there, and will continue to pursue our mission of replacing fossil fuels with renewable gases, developing local activities and the circular economy, and promoting scientific research.

I. SUBLIME Energie: General Presentation and Activity

A. A solution for biogas liquefaction and transportation for the large-scale development of anaerobic digestion in diffuse environments

SUBLIME Energie is a mission-driven company (société à mission) and Deeptech startup, a spin-off from MINES ParisTech, which operates a unique, energy-efficient biogas liquefaction technology.

This technology opens up a new avenue for biogas valorization, enabling the large-scale development of anaerobic digestion in diffuse environments. The development of on-farm anaerobic digestion offers a virtuous solution for the local treatment of organic waste produced by farms located far from networks and wastewater treatment plants scattered across the country. As part of a circular economy, waste is transformed into locally-produced, low-carbon energy, providing farmers with a stable additional income, creating jobs that cannot be relocated, reducing soil pollution and cutting down on the use of chemical fertilizers through the use of digestate.

The collection of biogas obtained from decentralized anaerobic digesters enables the production of biomethane and bioCO2 to be multiplied, while reducing biogas purification and conditioning costs. In fact, the volume of biogas is drastically reduced when it is liquefied, which in turn reduces transport costs. Just like a milkman’s route, the liquefied biogas is collected and transported efficiently to a hub where the costly gas purification and conditioning operations are carried out, benefiting from a factor of scale before distribution.

The purified biomethane thus obtained is valorized :

● in the form of physical bioGNV distributed off-grid, offering the possibility of distributing it in its liquefied (bioLNG) and compressed (bioGNC) forms. This fuel is particularly well-suited to heavy machinery (trucks, boats, trains with thermal propulsion), and its use reduces the carbon footprint of the transport secteur, currently the leading emitter of greenhouse gases in France with 40% of emissions, by a factor of 6 to 7.

● in the form of biomethane injected into gas networks, for surplus production, in order to substitute biomethane for fossil fuel gas.

The process also generates a pure, concentrated source of biogenic carbon, also known as bioCO2 , which can be substituted for a wide range of industrial uses (growth forcing in agricultural greenhouses, cryogenic weed control, heat transfer fluids for refrigeration units, green chemistry, etc.) or stored in geological layers.
